anyone in the world using EFS Clustered filesystem (ex Polyserve)?
At mid 2007 only SuSE was supported but now probably Red Hat too (that is what I need).
Actually we bought T4415A and T4419A codes in December 2007 but at this time not possible yet to get any software and time estimation...
Thanks in advance for any pointers/update, also for evaluation/specifications.
Bye,
Gianluca

Re: anyone in the world using EFS Clustered filesystem (ex Polyserve)?
The T4415A and T4419A products are Clustered Gateway image systems, am I correct?
There does exist a software-only product SKU for this that will run on RHEL4 update 4 64-bit. This is something I believe you can ask your sales representative for further information.
To receive documentation, please log into https://itrc.hp.com and ensure your account is associated with the appropriate SAID number(s), available on your contract. Updates and patches are available by searching for "clustered gateway" in the Download Drivers and Software section of the hp.com site (or visit this URL for the English language page: http://preview.tinyurl.com/4eswz8)
If you have further issues, please feel free to contact your account representative or contact out Support group.
Thank you, and hope this helps,
Michael Acosta

Re: anyone in the world using EFS Clustered filesystem (ex Polyserve)?
And I was only able to find 3.5.1 versions on the web, where rh is not supported.
And the link provided refers to SuSE only supported appliance...
Perhaps part-numbers and/or requirements have changed in the mean time... after December when the order was finalized.
But apart from this I would like to share knowledge base and feelings about the product/technology itself too.
Thanks,
Gianluca

As for experience, I'll hold off on that since I am a bit biased in this area ;)

Re: anyone in the world using EFS Clustered filesystem (ex Polyserve)?
http://h18006.www1.hp.com/products/storage/software/polyserve/support/main.html
For what I recall, Polyserver software provided a Cluster FS and required infraestructure, nothing more....
Is this a full blown Filesharing product based on Polyserve?, if that's the case you can consider installing SLES9 and try it there (given you won't interact much with the linux part of the solution).
Original Release
http://download.novell.com/Download?buildid=1HYSkGYIYow~
Service Pack 4
http://download.novell.com/Download?buildid=MDhnIu6tHOk~
http://download.novell.com/Download?buildid=H9EGDY9GAn8~
The original product you bought seems that won't be supported on SLES10 or any RHEL version (the latest patch available is still from this year at least).

Both suse and redhat are supported with Polyserve Linux 3.5.1
check out
http://www.hp.com/go/polyserve and select support and manuals and there should be a supported hardware and software manual
We use Redhat in our 3.5.1 polyserve course
