Re: auto forward emails
I have added the file .forward in home folder and added the emails in the file.
my problem is that i want to configure when ever root user receive mails all the mails to be auto forward to my external email id. even mails received by users from cronjobs
i am able to send by using "mailx" command my smtp is working fine.

Re: auto forward emails
root myemail@mydomain.com
then, run command
newaliases
this way, all the mail coming to root's mailbox will be forwarded to your email address.
Usage of .forward is sketchy at best. I have had equal amount of success with it as much as failures. So, the way described above works for sure.
if you want to receive other user's mail from cron and what-ever-else, add another like like that with that username replacing word root.
Hope this helps
UNIX because I majored in cryptology...
