bootp

I am trying to set up /etc/bootptab on my ignite server so that I may assign IP address and hostnames to a specific mac address. When I try to boot one of the systems that I have set up dhcp times out. The error message in syslog is that "bootpd[1203]bind: Address already in use" Any help or suggestions would be really appreciated. Thanks.

Re: bootp

Are you using bootp, than having bootp client obtain address using dhcp?

Re: the address in use, it seems that one of the few areas of the server that would care is the arp table. You could clear it or shorten life of it's entries as a test.

Or

The address in use is from the 2nd step in the bootp process, when the 'image' (if used) is downloaded to the client. In that this is a 2 step process, there could be debris from the first step, ether in arp, or if address (socket) change as a result of dhcp.

There should be some messages in syslog to mention steps, and which one it is stumbling on.
