Re: can we clone the boot disk ??

What version of HP-UX do you have?
You could look at using DRD if 11.23 or 11.31
My house is the bank's, my money the wife's, But my opinions belong to me, not HP!

Re: can we clone the boot disk ??

Hi,

with dd you can clone disk. You need at least the same size with original disk. As the device file will be changed, you must change lvmtab information as explained below thread:

http://h30499.www3.hp.com/t5/System-Administration/Used-dd-to-clone-system-disk-VG-is-now-quot-unused-quot/m-p/4407644#M352602

or you can mirror/ux to clone boot disk.

http://wiki-ux.info/wiki/How_to_mirror_a_boot_disk#HP_9000_11i_v1_.2811.11.29_.2F_11i_v2_.2811.23.29

Re: can we clone the boot disk ??

DRD is the better solution.

If using "dd" you need to go to maintenance mode and vgexport/vgimport vg00 to reflect the changed h/w path.

Hope this helps!

Torsten.
