changed password

Hi.

I have the version 11.11 for Hp-ux.

Is it possible to have the same user that the password?.

for example:
User= newtest
password= newtest

I would not recommend that.

As long as you don't have any password restrictions (like trusted system or some third party tools) it's possible.

I know that it is not a good option, but I am going to migrate an old application and now it has the same user and password

Hi,

Being aware that it's not a good practice, yes, it's possible.
If you are getting any error while putting the passwd=user_name, try to put that passwd to other user on the same server and then copy the encrypted field to the new one ( in /etc/passwd file or under the corresponding entry on /tcb ).

This is not possible by direct methods. But yes there are indirect methods.
