cifs installation hp ux 11.23

does the results of this command indicate that the cifs client is installed ?

swlist -l product|grep -i cifs
  CIFS-Client           A.02.02.01     HP CIFS Client
  CIFS-Development      A.02.03.01     HP CIFS Server Source Code Files
  CIFS-Server           A.02.03.01     HP CIFS Server (Samba) File and Print Services

what would be the command to start cifs ?

Something like "/sbin/init.d/cifsclient start" or "/sbin/init.d/cifsserver start".

i found it /opt/cifsclient/bin/cifsclient  starts it up...

Yes the results indicate cifs is installed.

I believe the start/stop command is:

/sbin/init.d/samba start

/sbin/init.d/samba stop

Your CIFS/Samba version may not be the most up to date and you may wish to install updates from http://software.hp.com

SEP
