cpuinfo
i hv a rx8640 with multiple npars, with montecito and montivale
i am planning for an upgrade, and wanna find out cpu if its montecito or montivale for each npar
how can i find this out from hpux

Type "machinfo" command, when you see "Itanium 2 9100 series processor" then this is "montvale".

...and conversly the Montecito CPU's will report as 9000 series:
# machinfo
CPU info:
4 Intel(R) Itanium 2 9000 series processors (1.4 GHz, 12 MB)
400 MT/s bus, CPU version A2/B0'
8 logical processors (2 per socket)
Also, from outside the OS you can use the MP's DF command to display CPU information.
For example:
MP:CM> DF, S, X (enter CPU slot)
Look for the FRU Name entry. THe following shows the above Montecito CPU.
FRU Name : MONT_B0'
Montvale CPU's are shown as MTV_xx (or similar).
