Re: create npars or vpars on HPUX 11v1

Npars are hardware dependant. That is, only certain cell based servers are capable of being physically partitioned.

Vpars, on the other hand, are virtual and therefore much more adaptable.

What kind of hardware do you have?

Also, what kind of clustering solutions are you going to test?

I've successfully "simulated" a multi-node Weblogic cluster by running multiple instances of Weblogic using different application user IDs and multiple IP aliases on the same host.

This approach may be useful with some application-level clustering techniques, when there is no need to simulate shared cluster disks. (The Weblogic nodes sent all their data to an external database.)

Shalom,

if you have a server that supports npar (model) command, you can build an npar and two vpars to test what you are trying. Service Guard will work.

If you already have an npar, you can create two vpars for your project.

As root vparstatus -A (shows available cpu and i/o resources).

Re: create npars or vpars on HPUX 11v1

Hi Ainms,

you have mentioned,"vpars on HPUX 11v1 ", so I understand that the system which you have is a PARISC one.

So we can avoid the opiong HP IVM.

Other options are Vpar and NPar.

Npar will support - cell based servers

rp7420
rp7440
rp8400
rp8420
rp8440

and special case Vpar will support by L class and N class

so think about that .

thanks for all
my server is rx2600 and the clustering solution that i need to test is MC/service guard
can you describe what can i do in detail as i'm a beginner in partioning

Re: create npars or vpars on HPUX 11v1

No nPars,
no vPars,
no 11.11

on this model.

Your only choice would be HPVM with 11.23 or 11.31.

Hope this helps!

Torsten.
