Re: data format error mails

Well... I think it seems obvious that there is a problem in the area of the double "@", as in "@@aaa.de.danzas.com". But sendmail falls in the "black magic" category. And I'm not that kind of wizard, so I have no idea that could help you. :-)

I'll see if I can get a response from one of the sendmail guru's.

Re: data format error mails

how "@@" came there?. The error seem to suggest that sendmail thinks that the is missing from the mail address...could be a problem with the gateway?

Han,
thanks.

BL,
I have no idea, where this might be from. That's why I am asking.

Re: data format error mails

From the guru:

It looks like the sending system is issuing an illegal sender field in the SMTP MAIL command (the part of the SMTP dialogue that identifies the sender of the message). The format should be:

MAIL From: [other properties]

The user part is, or is being replaced by, an "@". It could be a problem with the user agent (maybe the user name is missing in the user agent configuration) or with the sendmail.cf.

1) What is being used to compose and send the mail?
2) How was the sendmail.cf created?

And from me:

- So does this happen for every mail, or just some specific ones?
- Has this always failed? If not, what changed?

Re: data format error mails

Hi Han,

thanks for the comment.
This is only happening with one account and there probably all the time.
I will have to find out what is used to create the mail.
I will be gone for three weeks, including two weeks in sunny California, so be patient. I really would like to solve this problem.

thanks,

Michael
