Shalom,

These control the buffer cache (bc of dbc). Percentage of memory.

Depending on how you use your system you will want to probably fix these numbers. When an HP-UX system changes its buffer cache, the cost in resources is enormous.

For Oracle systems which normally do not benefit from buffer cache, I set the number to both figure to 5%.

If my applications benefit, I set it higher.

This is the opposite of Linux which moves resources in and out of buffer cache with virtually no performance penalty.
