/dev/root

Hi All,

Facing a problem!!!! Need your help...

Actually IN bdf Output am getting

/dev/root instead of /dev/vg00/lvol3...

--> have checked /etc/mnttab and there i found the wrong entry....
--> also have checked lvlnboot -v output and there i found the following output:-

----------------
{root}# lvlnboot -v vg00
Boot Definitions for Volume Group /dev/vg00:
Physical Volumes belonging in Root Volume Group:
/dev/dsk/c0t6d0 (0/0/0/2/0.6.0) -- Boot Disk
/dev/dsk/c2t6d0 (0/0/0/3/0.6.0) -- Boot Disk
Root LV not yet configured !! Mirror information will not be displayed
Boot: lvol1 on: /dev/dsk/c0t6d0
No Root Logical Volume configured
No Swap Logical Volume configured
No Dump Logical Volume configured
------------------

So, Need your help to correct it.

Appreciate your help and support as always.

Thanks in advance..

Best Regards,
LN

Re: /dev/root

Hello MIKAP,

Thanks a lot for your quick response ....

but have followed the steps i.e.

{root}# mv mnttab mnttab.13042010
{root}# mount -a
{root}# bdf

but still its showing /dev/root on / .

Do I need to take reboot or need to do something else.... and the scenario that you have shown me via link given above... is showing proper output of lvlnboot -v....

and in my case it showing

{root}# lvlnboot -v vg00
Boot Definitions for Volume Group /dev/vg00:
Physical Volumes belonging in Root Volume Group:
/dev/dsk/c0t6d0 (0/0/0/2/0.6.0) -- Boot Disk
/dev/dsk/c2t6d0 (0/0/0/3/0.6.0) -- Boot Disk
Root LV not yet configured !! Mirror information will not be displayed
Boot: lvol1 on: /dev/dsk/c0t6d0
No Root Logical Volume configured
No Swap Logical Volume configured
No Dump Logical Volume configured

So, Need your assistance and help on this.

Thanks

Re: /dev/root

Are you sure ur server is in RL 3 or 5.
Cause I suppose / is mounted on /dev/root whenin maintenance.
