Re: difference between the HP-UX versions

Hi:

In general, v2 is the end of support for PA-RISC. v2 will support both PA-RISC and Ia64 / Integrity. This link help expands on the HW differences, but not the O/S differences, for example, you won't see the kernal parameter stape as a default anymore in Ia64.

Re: difference between the HP-UX versions

Hello again:

Here's a little more info about end of lifes for v2 and v3 and others. I figure as long as I have it bookmarked maybe you'll want it, even though its not exactly your answer;

You can look at the new features lists in each of the Release Notes:

That's 11.31.

Re: difference between the HP-UX versions

Hello,
Each newer version has enhanced features
1) New tools for eg: SAM will be replaced by SysMgthome Page
2) Volume group attribute modification
3) bug fixes
4) File sizes - bigger sizes supported
5) and many others.

What exactly you are looking for?

Re: difference between the HP-UX versions

I think , if you look at the carefully 11iv2 , it is a middle version like temporary between 11iv1 and 11iv3 .It is not used long time before going to 11iv3. With this in mind you can check my old thread at address:

I'm not sure how you are judging 11.23 and saying "temporary"?
It was the first HP-UX to support Integrity and had other new features.

Re: difference between the HP-UX versions

Shalom,

Of note: 11.23 is a full version, with full features, more dynamic kernel parameters, built in strong random number generator to name a few.

It has the same End of Life Date as 11.11, which leads people to use the term interim or temporary. Either term is not correct.

I know that you said, especially ,when it comes to integrity ,you are right.
But its short period that HP upgraded to 11.31 ,made me think like that. For example in my country (T├Г┬╝rkiye).
I've never heard of any "version 11.23"
I am not judging, I am just entitled to my opinion.
