disable ipv6 modules

Hello,

I want to disable IPv6 on my servers.

If i try to disable the ipv6 module:
# kcmodule ip6=unused
* The automatic 'backup' configuration has been updated.
WARNING: The module 'ip6' could not be set to unused state, because
another module depends on it.
Module State Cause
ip6 static depend

the dependency is "interface HPUX_11_23:1.0"
# kcmodule -v ip6
Module ip6 [4A730866]
Description IP IPv6 Driver
State static (to resolve dependencies)
State at Next Boot static (to resolve dependencies)
Capable static unused
Depends On interface HPUX_11_23:1.0

what is this interface ?
how can I disable this dependency ?

Thanks for your help.

Cheers,

Re: disable ipv6 modules

Shalom Cedrick,

A reboot is required to make this change.

After reboot I believe your changes will work.

Re: disable ipv6 modules

I think disableling, turning off IPv6 in HP-UX is not possible. You can choose not to use it, but it goes that far...

Look at this topic:

Re: disable ipv6 modules

Shalom Steven,

the error message indicates the driver can not be in unused state because of a dependency, a reboot wil change nothing (i know, i tried).

when a reboot is required, this kind of message appears:
# kcmodule mip6mod=unused
NOTE: The configuration being loaded contains the following change(s)
that cannot be applied immediately and which will be held for
the next boot:
-- Moving a module into or out of static state requires a kernel
rebuild.
* The automatic 'backup' configuration has been updated.
* Building a new kernel for configuration 'nextboot'...
* Adding version information to new kernel...
* The requested changes have been saved, and will take effect at
next boot.
Module State Cause
libmip6 (now) static depend
(next boot) unused
mip6mod (now) static best
(next boot) unused
