I never replace a failed disk in 11iv3(superdome), so when it happened today, I took it for granted and replace it directly after lvreduce and vgreduce (volume mirrored), and ioscan told:
disk 251 0/0/1/0/0.3.0 sdisk NO_HW DEVICE HP 146 GST3146807LC
/dev/dsk/c0t3d0 /dev/rdsk/c0t3d0
made me considered that the new disk was not a good one, and then I swapped this disk to other slot, slot 4 of the DS2300, of course it was CLAIMED then, then I realized my misundestanding, so I placed it to slot 3 again, then ioscan -m lun showed:
disk 19 64000/0xfa00/0x16 esdisk CLAIMED DEVICE limited HP 146 GST3146707LC
0/0/1/0/0.0x4.0x0
0/0/1/0/0.0x3.0x0
/dev/disk/disk19 /dev/rdisk/disk19
notice that limited Health stated.
Then I scsimgr replace_wwid and io_redirect_dsf, that new disk regained the dsf I want it to be, but the Health state was still limited:
disk 758 64000/0xfa00/0x16 esdisk CLAIMED DEVICE limited HP 146 GST3146707LC
0/0/1/0/0.0x4.0x0
0/0/1/0/0.0x3.0x0
/dev/disk/disk758 /dev/rdisk/disk758
will this state do harm to the os? how can I fix it? a simple reboot?
regards
Stephen

SolutionIn reality, you probably confused the OS a bit by moving the disk from one slot to another and then back.
The "rmsf -x" command removes stale hardware paths: that might be the eas├Г┬нest way to fix the current situation. Just be sure you don't have any other disks in a failed state when you run it.

Re: disk replace in 11iv3-limited Health State.
you mean rmsf -x /dev/dsk/c0t4d0 would change limited state to online?

Re: disk replace in 11iv3-limited Health State.
Should be visible with
ioscan -fnkNH 0/0/1/0/0.0x4
ioscan -fnkNH 0/0/1/0/0.0x3

Re: disk replace in 11iv3-limited Health State.
of course slot 4 is empty now.
disk 18 0/0/1/0/0.4.0 sdisk NO_HW DEVICE HP 146 GST3146707LC
/dev/dsk/c0t4d0 /dev/rdsk/c0t4d0

Re: disk replace in 11iv3-limited Health State.
You can display all the stale DSF's by using:
#lssf -s
#rmsf -x - removes all these DSF's from system.

Re: disk replace in 11iv3-limited Health State.
lssf -s gave no output, does it mean no stale dsf in os? still could not fix the problem.
