error during Oracle backup

OS: SUSE Linux 10 SP1
Oracle: 10 G

although this not a oracle support forum, but I am asking this question because the Mr DBA is blaming the OS(SUSE) for this error.

is there anything I have to change or configure, Or if this is simply the Oracle(oracle-only) issue ?

Please help

Re: error during Oracle backup

Hi Maaz

>>ORA-27091: unable to queue I/O

may be the DBA set the parameters in ORACLE

setting filesystemio_options setall on SLES causes ORA-27091 unable to queue I/O error. It is suppose to enable both direct I/O and async I/O.

>>ORA-27072: File I/O error

Could you please verify the permissions on the directory (and parent directories) where the referenced datafile (from the error) resides

Re: error during Oracle backup

in HP-UX there is some thing . Not sure if there is an equvalent to that and if that is the case here. Not the 666 permission here.

root [/dev] ll /dev/async
crw-rw-rw- 1 bin bin 101 0x000000 Mar 22 2004 /dev/async
