failed HDD repalcment
Hi
We done the failed HDD replacement for rp servers.after breaking the mirror, when we removed the failed disk ,, OS got reboooted.
When we logged a case with HP,it was informed that in rp server there are 3 slots .. and currently both disk are in same scsi channels that is slot A and Slot B.
1.is this the reason for OS reboot.
2.How to confirm in which slot HDD are located
regards
Madhu

Re: failed HDD repalcment
Hi Madhu,
Hope you are specifying rp34XX server, as it has 3 slots for disks,
>>>>>1.is this the reason for OS reboot.
It has to be identified by the RCE using Logs (hardware logs and software logs).
>>>>2.How to confirm in which slot HDD are located
Slot A- Bottom
Slot B-Middle
SLot C-Top
Slot A and Slot B sahring the same channel it can be identified from the IO hardware path
If you are not using rp34XX server , please confirm/update the server model.
HTH,
Surendar

Re: failed HDD repalcment
Hi Madhu,
Do you have any hardware logs or OS logs to share?
As those will help to check the reason for reboot..

Re: failed HDD repalcment
Hi Surrendar
I dont have logs,,it happened before 2 months..I shared the logs with HP,,they said, they cant find any reason from the logs.
but they suggested HDD located in same slot might be the reason.
regards
Madhu

Re: failed HDD repalcment
Hi Madhu,
The disks are located in Same channel might be one of the reason.
However, it would be better concluding after the verification of the logs as in this case it is not possible now.
I appreciate your cooperation on this. As you involved engineer for this and verified the system.
