fbackup error due to ACL permission
Hi Guys,
I'm running fbackup command as a non root user but it gives the error message "Unable to reset access and modification times for file 'filename' " while backing up the data it backs it backs up some files O.K but on some files it gives an above error message.
However I have included the user in acl permissions and it has got rwx access to that file system and its subdirectories.
Please advise about the above error.
Thanks for your help in advance.
Raf

Hi,
You will have better chance to get answrers if you try this question in the HP-UX forum.

Re: fbackup error due to ACL permission
Why would you run fbackup as a non-root user?
If you want everything to be backed up properly, run fbackup as root.

Re: fbackup error due to ACL permission
Shalom,
I agree with Patrick. Backups can and should be run as root to avoid this issue. They are considered to be an administrator function.
If an oracle database needs its state changed, this can be done with an su user -c "script or command" functionality.
