fibre card replaced - now fcmsutil shows not found !
We have had an issue on an 11.11 server with controller 112 on a VA7100 not showing and so the diagnosis was to replace the fibre card in 0/6/0.
ioscan shows :
#ioscan -fnC fc
Class I H/W Path Driver S/W State H/W Type Description
=================================================================
fc 0 0/2/0/0 td CLAIMED INTERFACE HP Tachyon XL2 Fibre Channel Mass Storage Adapter
/dev/td0
fc 1 0/6/0/0 td CLAIMED INTERFACE HP Tachyon XL2 Fibre Channel Mass Storage Adapter
/dev/td1
If i run...
#fcmsutil /dev/td0 devstat all|grep -i nport
Device Statistics for Nport_id 0x00001f(Loop_id 114)
...then i see controller 114 but if i then issue....
#fcmsutil /dev/td1 devstat all
No device found.
Can anyone confirm what i need to do next please to re-establish a connection to 112 please ?
Thanks in advance
Sean

Re: fibre card replaced - now fcmsutil shows not found !
No errors in the syslog from what i can see.
Regarding the insf, is there any way you know of for checking that there is no driver attached to the new device ?
Thanks

Re: fibre card replaced - now fcmsutil shows not found !
fibre card <--> cable <--> fibre hub (port 2)
and....
fibre hub (port 1) <--> cable <--> righthand controller of VA7100
I am now being told that the activity light on port 2 is blinking green, whereas the same setup on the other server/side of the cluster, shows as being solid green on the fibre hub.
hmmmmm

Re: fibre card replaced - now fcmsutil shows not found !
And on this thread, you are totally missing Torsten's suggestion. Is the person in charge of the SAN admin, configure the new *hub* to recognize these FC cards on your server using the WWNs or you just replaced the hub and expect it to work magically like windows plug-and-pray architecture ?
UNIX because I majored in cryptology...
