Hello All,

Trying to ftp "bcrs01oam0-20091020T054919+0300000628.DAT" but getting response(Response code: Requested action not taken: File name not allowed (553)). Is there any limitaion in unix not to put file having (+) sign.

If your file name contains special characters, symbols, or spaces in the file name, it might be rejected by the remote FTP server

From what? To what? Using what software?
Which system is the FTP client, which the
server? Put or Get? As usual, showing
actual commands with their actual output can
be more helpful than vague and incomplete
descriptions and interpretations.

Apparently, the remote FTP server (?)
doesn't like that file name. Knowing
exactly nothing about that system or its FTP
server, it's hard to say what it doesn't
like about that name. (It's long, and it
contains some special characters.)

Most UNIX or UNIX-like file systems don't
care one way or another about a "+". Where
is this file now? Of course, we non-psychics
have no particular reason to believe that the
"File name not allowed" error is coming from
a UNIX(-like) system. Perhaps it would help
if you could provide some basic information
about what you're doing, and with what.

A typical FTP client lets the user specify
different local and remote file names, so, if
one system doesn't like the original name,
then the user can specify a different name.

The only characters you can depend upon are 0-9, a-z.
