gazemon using 100% CPU utilization

Hi all, I am using rx7640 with HPUX 11.23, I found that the process called gazemon is always using 100% of CPU. Acccording to the forum, gazemon is used to monitor DS2500 which I don't have. Does anyone know what is the proper way to stop gazemon running on my server, thanks.

Re: gazemon using 100% CPU utilization

Hi,

look at /sbin/init.d directory if there is a startup script about that daemon. if there is run it with stop parameter. this is just to kill the daemon. but you need more to do.

Re: gazemon using 100% CPU utilization

I couldn't find the startup script in /sbin/init.d. And I tried to kill it and it restarted itself. gazemon is one of the process of EMS.

Re: gazemon using 100% CPU utilization

Hi Eric,

in this case, use the monconfig interface to find out whether you can disable this monitor.

Run:

/etc/opt/resmon/lbin/monconfig

and see whether the gazemon can be disabled via the delete monitoring request option.

Please check if your online diagnostics version is up to date

http://docs.hp.com/en/diag/stm/stm_upd.htm

and download a newer version, if needed

http://h20293.www2.hp.com/portal/swdepot/displayProductInfo.do?productNumber=B6191AAE

(note supported vs. unsupported versions!)

Latest now is

C.62.00 HWE 0812 December 2008 B.11.23.12.02 A.04.20.23

Hope this helps!

Torsten.

Re: gazemon using 100% CPU utilization

Try running /etc/opr/resmon/lbin/monconfig and delete the gazemon device monitor.
