graphical ui for partitions

physical disk, vols, and volgroups

Is there a way to see and adjust this graphically? If not, is there a third-party tool that might do this?

Re: graphical ui for partitions

That depends.

If you are using LVM then SAM can do a lot of things.

If you are using VxVM (Veritas Volume Manager) then it has its own GUI, I believe vxadm or vxadmgui or something like that, that you can use.

Re: graphical ui for partitions

I am using SAM. I pulled up Disks and File Systems in SAM and right-clicked on the 300GB disk I wish to use as a storage drive. Since I knew it was unpartitioned I thought I had chosen to "use LVM" but apparently not. I now have a screen that lists the date,size(286102),hdwr path, file system choices, mount directory named /IG300

It says at the bottom that it may take more than an hour and apparently they are right because the pie shaped clock ticker is still turning.

I'm confused as to why it is taking so long? I called HP and they said that was normal. I talk to our old HPAdmin and he says "oh, don't use SAM". You can do that in 3 minutes via the command line (make vol_grp > lund > file_system) and you are done.

Any information is greatly appreciated.
