hostname is not changing

Hello,

 

I am trying to change the hostname for my HP-UX server (HP-UX 11.31), but the change is not happening as a permanent one.

 

everytime after rebooting the system i see the old hostname is getting reflected.

 

can you please help me out in finding out what could be the problem.

I would guess that you are just running the 'hostname' command to change the hostname, correct?

 

You need to change /etc/rc.config.d/netconf to permanently change the hostname on a server.

 

Also make sure you do not have something like /etc/rc.config.d/netconf.bak as that can cuase problems as well.
