hostname

HP-UX 11.23

My hostname command shows: MyHostname.
My Reflection X software shows the name of the server only as: MyHostname

Other HP-UX servers shows: MyHostname.MyDomani.Org in both (command line and Reflection X)

How to change the hostname to be showed as fully qualifyed hostname (MyHostName.Mydomain.org)?

Re: hostname

Hi

You can change your hostname in /etc/rc.config.d/netconf file.Look out what entry is there for hostname and change it.

Re: hostname

Hi Tonatiuh,

Check you hostname in /etc/hosts file and i'm sure it will be in this format MyHostname.MyDomani.Org.

If that is the case, it is absolutely fine. You can also try ping myhostname and get the resolved DNS. Hope this helps.

Re: hostname

Hi,

to change hostname the correct solution is

/sbin/set_parms hostname

Everything else (for example changing manually files like netconf and /etc/hosts) is not the best way.

Anyway having hostname with complete domain I think it's not good, or maybe you have already checked the attached document.

Best regards,
Fabio
