how do you move o/s between virtual partitions?

Is it possible to move o/s between virtual partitions for unix? I heard that there is a command that begins with " vm " that does this. Is there a command called " vm-move"? It has also been rumored that this command will replace vpars.

I guess you need to quantify the meaning of "moving o/s's".

vpars is not a single command. it is a software product and kernel patches, thus replacing vpars with a single command can't happen.

I think you need to give a bit more info on what it is you are looking for.
You do not "move" OS instances between partitions on HP-UX, but yoy can move applications using software like Serviceguard.
There are some commands that start with vm, but have nothing to do with moving the OS.
Also, vPars is a software product that allows you to partition up a Hard Partition, or nPar, into smaller servers at the granularity of cpu units, memmory in 64Mb units, and i/o cards.

The only thing yoy may be confusing is something called Virtual Machine?

On Linux this is called VmWare I believe.
