Re: how to mount ilo virtual drive in hpux 11.31
Looks OK. What is the contents of the DVD/ISO? Something special? Known to work?
Hope this helps!
Regards
Torsten.

Re: how to mount ilo virtual drive in hpux 11.31
Hi,
The content of the virtual drive is depot file HP_UX_11i_v3_SecureShell_A.07.30.003_HP-UX_B.11.31_IA_PA.depot. The main issue is that I cannot ssh my server, thus I want to install ssh to it, using the virtual drive (ilo) from there copy the file locally and proceed with swinstall.

Re: how to mount ilo virtual drive in hpux 11.31
I would try
#mount -F cdfs -o rr /dev/dsk/<cdrom/dvd> /<mount-point>
or simply
# mount /dev/dsk/c2t0d0 /cdrom
How did you get this ISO/DVD?
I remember HP provided patch media in tape format years ago, so you cannot mount it, but use directly with swinstall as a source.
Hope this helps!
Regards
Torsten.

Re: how to mount ilo virtual drive in hpux 11.31
So you created your own ISO file?
If you have another server, you can swcopy the depot on the other server and run swinstall and use the other server as a source.
Hope this helps!
Regards
Torsten.

Re: how to mount ilo virtual drive in hpux 11.31
no not really, the raw depot file that I have downloaded is the same file that I have used. I just tried to archive that depot file to test if a none .depot file type will have a better chance to be mounted. But it turns out it had the same error.

Re: how to mount ilo virtual drive in hpux 11.31
So you try to use the file.depot file directly to mount over virtual media?
Not sure if this works ...
It is not a cdfs for sure. It is basically a tar.
You could try
# swinstall -s /dev/dsk/c2t0d0
without mounting it or use a CD burning tool (or the tool that ILO provides) to create a new ISO with your file as the contents.
Hope this helps!
Regards
Torsten.

Re: how to mount ilo virtual drive in hpux 11.31
I converted my .depot file as .ISO image, and then I mounted it to my server. And I was able to mount it, but when I try to install it using swinstall I still have this error There is currently no depot software on host "fr70vhvmh002" at ocation "/dev/dsk/c2t0d0"., maybe because it is now .ISO file.

SolutionI remember problems with too long files names. Try to rename it (e.g. mydepot.depot), then create the ISO.
Hope this helps!
Regards
Torsten.
