Re: how to uncompress the *.cgz file ?

rename the file to "abc.gz" and then use 'gunzip' (in Tru64 UNIX)

I think you are referring to collect datafile. If so, you still cannot read data directly from the uncompressed file. You have to use collect/cfilt to do so.

Rambo,

You can only read this file with the collect tool.
collect has it's built in compress/decompress libraries to read the .cgz files

If you really, really, really want to decompress it, you can use following command.

# collect -p input_file.cgz -f output_file -oz

gzip command used to uncompress with cgz extention.

gzip -d abc.cgz

Re: how to uncompress the *.cgz file ?

Hi Awadesh,

Indeed, you can gunzip the file if you rename the suffix to .gz

However, I compared a gzip_uncompressed file with the file produced by the command, that I proposed earlier

There is a difference, as you see on the following lines
-rw-r--r-- 1 root system 27345672 Nov 7 09:14 uncompressed_with_collect
-rw-r--r-- 1 root system 26838760 Nov 7 09:35 uncompresed_with_gzip

Which one is correct ??
Or are they both OK ??
