hp-ux 11.11 allocates large amount of system memory
I'm tuning a RP5405 hp-ux 11.11 64 bit machine before make it available for production.
Looking at the memory report with glance I'm very impressed to the value of SYS MEM metric:
858,2 MB. Is this normal in your experience?
Thank's in advance

Re: hp-ux 11.11 allocates large amount of system memory
Hi,
it's alittle high.
Check the following for a start:
kernel parameter
dbc_max_pct 8
dbc_min_pct 5
ninode 4000
vx_ninode 3600
5 and 8 are suggested proper value for a server running oracle, it is the dynamic cache.
vx_ninode is defaulted to 0, which means dynamic, and this has been proved (by this forum) that lead to high memory consumption.
Maximum Number of Inodes In VxFS Inode Cache
ninode is the cache for hfs fs.
better to seti is static and low.
As for the values, i heard of vx_ninode=90%ninode , but it is only a rule of thumb.
It will save you lots of memory
Massimo
