Re: ignite backup from one server to recover another.

Clarence,

I have not tested, but if they are exactly the same boxes, even thought the path to the boot drive is not the same it should not give you any issues.
If by any chance you run into a problem with it, i would do a make_net_recovery which is basically same procedure but from the network.

The only think that I could think about is if the hardware platforms are different, but this is not the case.

Jaime.

Re: ignite backup from one server to recover another.

Shalom Clarence,

You will have no problem at all doing this.

You may need to intervene when Ignite promopts you to set the proper disk path for the root volume.

You will need to change the hostname and IP address in that same interface to avoid network conflicts.

Yes this works I have done this many times.
Just make the appropriate changes for the new machine.

select the correct disk
set the IP/hostname.

any other special changes you might need.

I see no problem doing this, when you are recovering the backup instruct it to recover VG00 in 10/5.1.0

You should have no problem with this, especially since the hardware is the same.

If you want to be sure, choose the interactive restore, and double check all of your settings and disk assignments as part of the Ignite process.

Re: ignite backup from one server to recover another.

You can modify system config file on Ignite server pointing to correct vg00 boot disk so that it will restore without any problems.

Re: ignite backup from one server to recover another.

If you happen to be using MicroFocus products, the restore will "corrupt" the license database and you'll have to re-enter all the keys. The license manager keeps track of the inode where the database is built and checks the current inode with the one used when it was built. If they differ, it is considered "corrupt" and the licence manager aborts. Been there; done that :-)
