ignite command

Hi,
can any one tell me ,is there any command to check how much data (in size) writed into the tape, while the backup is running.i know the back up is running. bacause mt -f status show the device busy..
but it taking too much time... so please tel me the command

No, there is no easy way to tell how much data has been written, that I know of.

What do you consider too much time? How long has it been running? How much data are you attempting to back up? Is it just VG00? What kind of tape drive?

its only 35 GB .only vg00. Ultrium 460 is using.. its running from 1.30 hrs before.

The Ultrium 460 will backup 100 GB in one hour, and if the data can be compressed, as much as 200 GB/hour. However, your system and/or disks may be too slow to keep up. If your tape drive is sharing an interface card with disks, you'll never see the 30-60 MB/sec throughput. If your system is busy, the backup program may not be smart enough to run multiple reader processes (fbackup will do this). If you are using fbackup, it is imperative to use a config file.
