Re: ignite restore

Shalom,

Ignite images can be hosted on any NFS device.

An ignite server must be set up to permit the restoration from these images.

Re: ignite restore

It is the other way around. That the ignite server should find out the ignite client. This depends one what kind ignite server is. If it is PA-RISC, then need to modify file /etc/opt/ignite/instl_boottab. As for Itanium server, file /etc/bootptab need to be modified.

Re: ignite restore

you mean - nothing needs to be created in boot option - when client is rebooted.Just adding th eclient info in ingnite servers /etc/bootptab suffice?
thanks

Re: ignite restore

That is right. When booting up the client, pick up the booting option, then chose lan (or something like that) to boot it up. You need to read the doc carefully, as there is a lot of details things need to be done.

Re: ignite restore

A simpler method might be to use the dbprofile option of the servers EFI to direct boot from an ignite server.

e.g.

from EFI shell.
dbprofile -dn IUX ├в cip CLIENT_IP -sip IUX_SERVER_IP -gip GATEWAY_IP -m MASK -b "/opt/ignite/boot/nbp.efi├в

Then

lanboot -s -dn IUX

Re: ignite restore

I think lanboot is for PA-RISC not itanium bootup.

Re: ignite restore

lanboot select -dn works on itanium.

for pa-risc you need use a boot helper cd/tape or boot lan.ip.addr.iux and configure the instl_boottab on the IUX server.

I believe Navin is using IA.
