install RHEL 4 on Proliant DL145 G2 issue

When install RHEL 4 on a Proliant DL145 G2 server, system can't see hard drives. It load nv_sata driver but aacraid.
There is no issue when install RHEL 3. It loads aacraid driver without any problem.

Shalom,

You should upgrade firmware,bios etc and get a new Server CD and prepare the disk anew.

Re: install RHEL 4 on Proliant DL145 G2 issue

Question is how could RHEL 3 go forward without any problem? Updating firmware/bios/esm/etc. is a troubleshooting step, but should exist a direct answer somewhere, shouldn't it?

Re: install RHEL 4 on Proliant DL145 G2 issue

George, the thing is probably when RHEL 4 came out, the programmers had in mind the latest version of firmware on the server.
Usually when you can not install an OS on a good box, with a good media, is because the newest OS does not recognized the old firmware on the server.

Upgrading firmware on a DL145 is very easy, in case of doubt you can always call hardware tech support for some guidance.

Answer: change "MCFG Table" to "disabled"

BIOS --> Advanced --> MCFG Tables::Disabled

Answer is so simple.

BTW, Thanks all for your input.
