Himacs,

you can use /opt/ignite/data/scripts/examples/make_media_install to create a recovery DVD.

If your system does not have a DVD writer, you can create the ISO image and then copy it to another system equipped with a DVD writer to burn the media.

Himacs,

As far as advantage/disadvantage concern , creating & saving the image on a tape is better than a DVD. Suppose you have 72GB internal Harddrive, you cannot save entire root disk image into a DVD. As DVD can only keep 4.7GB.

A DAT72 tape can backup entire vg00 (max 72Gig)image and a system can be restored easily with it. And this is the best practice for sysadmins.

I think it will not really differ from the previous, but maybe it will be updated (renamed :-)) too.
