ioscan -fnC tape error

Hi,

I am getting the following error output:-

# ioscan -fnC tape
ioscan: libIO error from ioconfig_lock: /etc/ioconfig - permission denied.

The system is rp4440 running HP-UX 11iv1. It has a SCSI DAT drive.

Can anyone pls help.

Thanks in advance.

Re: ioscan -fnC tape error

Hi,

try

lsof | grep ioconfig

to check /etc/ioconfig is not being keept locked by something.

You find lsof on the Porting site:

http://hpux.connect.org.uk/hppd/hpux/Sysadmin/lsof-4.82/

HTH.

Best regards,

Re: ioscan -fnC tape error

check the permission of ioconfig file and fix it.
Even if its notworking move ioconfig file and recreate it with
ioinit -cf command.

Re: ioscan -fnC tape error

Hi,

Check if someone is running sam.

# ps -ef | grep sam

Stop or kill the sessions and try ioscan again.
