ioscan -fnC tape error
I am getting the following error output:-
# ioscan -fnC tape
ioscan: libIO error from ioconfig_lock: /etc/ioconfig - permission denied.
The system is rp4440 running HP-UX 11iv1. It has a SCSI DAT drive.
Can anyone pls help.

try
lsof | grep ioconfig
to check /etc/ioconfig is not being keept locked by something.
You find lsof on the Porting site:
http://hpux.connect.org.uk/hppd/hpux/Sysadmin/lsof-4.82/

Even if its notworking move ioconfig file and recreate it with
ioinit -cf command.

Check if someone is running sam.
# ps -ef | grep sam
Stop or kill the sessions and try ioscan again.
