there was no SCSI tape(like C5683A) connected to our servers, only a MSL6030, connecting through SAN, so is it a good way to make_tape_recovery using this tape library? and is it possible to restore the os if the system crash its os?
furthermore, how to configure a ignite server?
thanks a lot!

SolutionRefer to the Ignite manual:
www.hp.com/go/ignite-ux
For the SAN tape I would say yes, load manually a tape and backup, for restore load the tape, boot from DVD and select the tape as image location.
Hope this helps!
Regards
Torsten.

Re: is it possible to use a MSL6030 on SAN to backup and restore os?
about the tape backup, you mean I have to use a DVD to boot and then select a tape as image location, so I could access the tape in SAN at this state? is it defferent from BCH? could I SEA this drive at BCH? could I just boot the tape at BCH?
thank you for your reply!

Re: is it possible to use a MSL6030 on SAN to backup and restore os?
Once you booted from DVD, an install kernel is loaded and the system is able to search.
Hope this helps!

Torsten.

Re: is it possible to use a MSL6030 on SAN to backup and restore os?
HP only supports its own tape devices as Ignite boot devices.
You can however set up an Ignite server and use make_net_recovery and network boot to backup and recover systems.
