kernel build failed.

We are facing a problem during the installation of HP-UX 11.31 on an rx6600 server.

The below is the error:

* Build_Kernel: Begin
* Building a new kernel using the command: "/usr/sbin/mk_kernel -f -o
/stand/vmunix".
WARNING: The configuration is supposed to include a module
'UsbScsiAdaptor' that is not installed on the system. The
system will attempt to proceed without it, but the resulting
kernel may fail to boot or function properly.
WARNING: The configuration is supposed to include a module 'sasd_vbus'
that is not installed on the system. The system will attempt
to proceed without it, but the resulting kernel may fail to
boot or function properly.
ld: Unsatisfied protected symbol "usb_isc" in file "/usr/conf/mod/ehci"
ld: Unsatisfied protected symbol "usb_isc" in file "/usr/conf/mod/hcd"
2 errors.
ERROR: The kernel build failed.
ERROR: Could not make an executable kernel. An interactive shell will now be
provided. Once you have fixed the problem or a kernel has been built
and placed in /stand/vmunix, "exit" the shell.

To fix the above problem the patches PHKL_36019 and PHKL_36072 have to be installed.(got this from one of ITRC forums) As the server is not in network, Can you please guide me as to how we can proceed with this?

Thanks for your support in advance.

regards,
Sagar.

Re: kernel build failed.

Download the patches from itrc site, store it on tape/cd and install it on the server.

Re: kernel build failed.

Shalom Sagar,

I would install the two patches and boot the server. You will need to carry the patches to the system on some kind of media.

You can burn them to a CD or DVD. USB sticks won't work.

Re: kernel build failed.

hi,

you need to try and install the patches at the time of installation of the OE, if these patches will indeed fix it.

What is the date code of the media you are using? is it an older version?

you may need newer OE media which will have all the patches needed and support for your server
