kernel hpux
I am facing a problem .Please help !!
We have a security product SeOS which we are using on HPUX 11.00 machines.A few days back we
modified maxfiles and maxfiles limit parameters
on these machines and ever since this SeOS product is not starting up.
I tried reinstalling SeOS but it fails saying
it failed to update kernel.
anybody has any idea on this?

Re: kernel hpux
Hi,
if you have set (maxfiles &) maxfiles_limit way too low, you might have a little problem.
In single user mode you might be able to correct this. Maybe just stopping one or more applications/services might also do the trick.
good luck,
Thierry.

All unix flavours are exactly the same . . . . . . . . . . for end users anyway.

Re: kernel hpux
I am not familiar with that software product. But what I would check is that your changes to your kernel are their. You might try running sysdef and see if those changes appear.
Also you didn't mention what you increased maxfiles (which is the soft limit) and maxfiles_lim (which is hard limit of files a process can have open)....so I would ask what these values are? is maxfiles_lim equal or higher than nfile or ninode?
Just a couple thoughts,
