Shalom,

kmtune -l | grep max

I think you may have gotten the names wrong above. Changing these parameters should not have caused the problem, even if you exceeded maximum value.

If you meant maxtsiz and maxtsiz_64 the paramters are dynamic and did not require a reboot.

Hi Akif,

Did you tried to reboot with alternate disk or do you have ignite backup.

Also try to boot from pervious kernel

Re: kernel para change (mxssize,mxssize_64bit) INIT: Command is respawning

Hi Steven,

Parameters are correct which i describe above (maxssiz & maxssiz_64bit), Iam crippled unable to get any prompt to shoot the commands.

As serial cable also doesnt work not single user mode working........

This are the STATIC parameters and a new kernel booted if i could login i try to use old kernerl for rebooting system in a normal state........

Hi

Re: kernel para change (mxssize,mxssize_64bit) INIT: Command is respawning

Hi,

There is no alternative disk only OS media is available and its not auto booting.

I plan to use recover option with OS media but failed due to cd not booting after system reboot.

Hi Akif,

I have seen this problem several times.. even in SCO UNIX. I am sorry to say cant find a proper solution.
you may Check your inittab file.

This is just a suggestion.

Re: kernel para change (mxssize,mxssize_64bit) INIT: Command is respawning

Today i try to do fresh installation of latest OS HP-UX 11i v3 and CDROM autoboot is not working and iam unable to progress further even with new installation.

Are the disk failed or any relevant issue with firmware.as iam unable to connect even with serial cable - hyperterminal.....

What values did you use? Making maxssiz too large could make your system unusable.

>if I could login I try to use old kernel for rebooting system in a normal state

Why not? You interact with the PDC, as Jitesh said.

> Today I try to do fresh installation of latest OS HP-UX 11i v3

Neither 11.23 nor 11.31 is supported on your workstation.

>SEP: Changing these parameters should not have caused the problem

Sure it might. Every byte you increase maxssiz, you decrease maxdsiz, if the total is > 1 Gb.

Re: kernel para change (mxssize,mxssize_64bit) INIT: Command is respawning

Hi Dennis,

Yes i agree that i change kernel parameter with high values and after that only this problem started.

Now unable to get a login prompt or MP connectivity nor i do have any ignite backup.

I appreciate your valuable output to reach my destination.......
