lanadmin speed

I have two servers showing two differents results when I run lanadmin -s. The first one comes back with speed = 100000000 and the second one comes back with speed = 100. How can I get the second one to show 100000000 also? Thanks,

Re: lanadmin speed

Hi,

You can use landamin -x to view the speed settings and lanadmin -X 100FD to set the new speed/duplex settings.

PS the PPA number can be viewed with lanscan

Re: lanadmin speed

Hi,

try lanadmin -x
that should be much easier to read and more helpful

Re: lanadmin speed

What version of HP-UX are you running? I vaguely recall the 10.20 version of lanadmin not having the -x option.

Re: lanadmin speed

The speeds are fine on both 100FD. It's just that the display lanadmin -s is showing two different results. Why shouldn't it show the same results???

Re: lanadmin speed

are the two servers the same model and specification and running the same version of hpux ?

Re: lanadmin speed

I would suspect different versions or different patch levels might give different results. If the lanadmin -x syntax is available to you, that might be more consistent:

root# lanadmin -x 0
Current Config = 100 Full-Duplex MANUAL

Re: lanadmin speed

Well....

yes Pete is right you likely run 10.20 and have no -x option. And there is not much you can do about the different display. It depends on the type of interface or rather the driver that claims it. For the D/K-class built-in 10MBit cards I get 10000000
and for the 100MBit cards I get 100.

Re: lanadmin speed

It is possible to hard code 100 BaseT and slower boxes with /etc/rc.config.d/hpbtlanconf

I'm attacdhing mine.

Will it work on 10.20? don't know.
