see the above:
When I type password, it would delay around 15-20 seconds. Does anyone knows what happend? any ideas ?

Hi,

I think you need a patch for that delay
a
Cumulative ARPA Transport patch

or contact local hp for more info about that..

Check if your resolving is okay, especially your hostname/FQDN and reverse lookup.

Shalom,

If its just one user, check the .profile, the user may have done something the opposite of smart.

If its not one user then its almosts always names resolution or networking issues.

Give it a try by numeric ip address. If this is significatnly faster, then you can correct the problem with appropriate entries in the /etc/hosts file.

Above command also delay 20 seconds to prompt enter new password.

It's using /etc/hosts to resolute

Does it netwoking issue?

Dear Sir,

This seems to be the host name resolution issue.

ping using hostname/fqdn for time delay.

did you run the command on the console prompt or through a client on the network?

make sure that you have above mentioned patch installed also.

Thanks for all you suggestion.
The ARPA / login latest patch has installed.
and disable NIS service.

Now the problem is fixed.
