logrotate configuration for hpux 11.31

Hi All,

 

I have installed the logrotate depot downloaded from "HPconnect Porting and archive center". when i checked for the logrotate configurtion file , it is not there in that path..i believe /etc/logrotate is the path for this configuration..please help me to configure the logrotate..pls find below details..

 

root@h22-1-1: /tmp/hptools #
root@h22-1-1: /tmp/hptools # whereis logrotate
logrotate: /usr/local/sbin/logrotate /usr/local/man/man8/logrotate.8
root@h22-1-1: /tmp/hptools # /usr/local/sbin/logrotate /etc/logrotate.conf
error: cannot stat /etc/logrotate.conf: No such file or directory
root@h22-1-1: /tmp/hptools #
root@h22-1-1: /tmp/hptools #

 

do i need to create the conf file manually? kindly help me..

 

thanks..I will assign points...OS is hpux 11.31..

 

root@h22-1-1: /tmp/hptools # swlist -l product | grep logrotate
logrotate 3.8.1 logrotate
root@h22-1-1: /tmp/hptools #

According to the README.HPUX file that is shipped with the package from the porting center you do have to manually create the /etc/logrotate.conf.

 

The step says that you can copy an example file from the examples directory, however the HP-UX port does not include the examples directory.

 

If you go to https://fedorahosted.org/logrotate/ and download one of the logrotate bundles you can then extract the examples directory from the 'tar' file so you have a template to work from.
