ls -lrt command not working in root filesystem

ls -lrt command not working in root filesystem

Hi guys,
I have an rx4640 server ,
8gb RAM , 2 CPU , 11iv2

the problem is ,ls -lrt command just hangs in the root filesystem only.
Elesewhere its absolutely fine .

root #/ >bdf .
Filesystem kbytes used avail %used Mounted on
/dev/vg00/lvol3 2097152 1512784 582936 72% /

Any help would be great .

There is no o/p from the comand it just hangs .

No "reboot".

Steven E. Protter say,

Probably ls -al / is listing a stale nfs mount.

Check your nfs mounts and possibly stop/start the services or automounter and the problem should go away. There may of course be a problem on the actual NFS server.

there is no nfs mount on this server.
I will check the automounter daemon .

Did you check the syslog.log file for any errors? Usually a hang on a 'ls' means the system is waiting for I/O from a device, i.e NFS mount, disk, etc...
