lv corrupted in hpux 10.20
i am having one Data Logical Volume as /dev/vg03/lvol1 which mapped as /data, i found this vg03 is belongs to two physical HDD and one of my HDD having RED LED looks like some hardware issue. i dont have mirror copy for this vg.
i even can not do ls in /data its just hung, however i can still access few folders from /data.
how i can recover my whole /data partition, its having some ciritical data an i dont have full backup for this file system, any good suggestio please.. thanks,
lvmtab entry is as below.
# strings /etc/lvmtab
/dev/vg00
/dev/dsk/c2t5d0
/dev/dsk/c1t1d0
/dev/vg03
/dev/dsk/c0t9d0
/dev/dsk/c0t11d0
through ioscan command all HDD shows in claim status.

Re: lv corrupted in hpux 10.20
You can't!!!! Since one disk appears to be bad and ls hangs, you have serious problems.
You can TRY to cp the data to another directory, but I don't have much hope that it will work.

The data is critical, but you don't have a backup? That was not very smart!!!!

Re: lv corrupted in hpux 10.20
If the data is REALLY critical, you could try a data recovery company that specializes in recovering data from damaged components. Search google for "data recovery" and you will get some hits.
Be aware that these services can be QUITE EXPENSIVE!!!!
