mail: permission denied!

Hi Expert,

Im not really well in HPUX. But here my problem.

My server hpux (B.11.11) is configured with samba. Right now user having problem to login into server from windows client and it is not accepting their current windows credentials. Also when they tried to telnet to the unix server, it accepts the password (UNIX Password) but it hanged before they could get the command prompt as shown below:

Is there anybody expert on why this happen?

What does "echo $MAIL" show?
Do you have read permission on that file?

there is nothing wrong with the mail. this server is NIS client.

Horia,

I already read and tried it at problem server. The passwd is okay. the password
map was propagated to the NIS client. this is weird for me since my id also part of thise NIS but i can login without problem. The different between me and the user is they are samba user and im not.

i already check at mail. permission is okay. may be u can give me some info on what else can i check.

Maybe the samba server is authenticating into the same domain as the windows station...

Hi Sin,

Where are your users home directories located?

NFS?

Do your users use a history file?

Well if it hangs, you can't really check.
What I had in mind:
echo $MAIL
ll $MAIL
id
