Re: make_tape_recovery.

Hi fizan,

>>if i run a make_tape_recover for a system-state backup whether it will include all the lvol in the vg00?<<

Yes .

how much space will it require to have vg00 backup?

Above post gave some idea about calculate. also it depends on tape drive you have

if you have DDS4 - tape drive use 40GB tape
if you have LTO - Tape drive you can even use 80GB and above

<whther it will take an image copy or it will work like fbackup?<<<

make_tape_recovery - Yes its image copy

fbackup - fbackup - selectively back up files

You cant restore - I mean ignite restore of Operationg Syste,

if you do fbackup for Operating file system will not work under "restoring Server" from tape - its different "fbackup"

man fbackup for more information

At last seeing you bdf -ouput noticed you have /oracle mount point under vg00

make_tape_recovery -> standard procedure we need include only OS mount points only

in you case you can exculde while you perfrom make_tape_recovery

use fbackup or HP Data proctetor to backup you /oracle mount point which part of vg00

Re: make_tape_recovery.

You can use
make_tape_recovery with -x inc_entire=vg00

this will include all the lvols in VG00

but you have to take oracle down first to have a working copy for DB.
