SolutionYes, part of make_tape_recovery is a full backup of the SD/UX software database.
This will be restored if you restore a system to DR.
As far as pulling individual files of an existing backup, I don't know precisely what files would have to be pulled.

Re: make_tape_recovery
> so instead of freshly installing the new os in the DR site directly can i retrive vg00 from the productn tape?
An Ignite recovery tape of 'vg00' is the basis for recovery in disaster recovery. You boot from your Ignite tape; choose the 'Install HP-UX/Media_Only' and select the 'Advanced Installation' mode. Set 'CLONING TO DIFFERENT HARDWARE?'=TRUE; set 'IMPORT VOLUME GROUPS?'= FALSE; and set 'ALLOW USE OF OTHER DISKS?'=YES.
Pick a physical disk onto which Ignite will build vg00 and restore your vg00 data.
After this you will want to build non-vg00 volume groups according to your needs and restore their contents from an appropriate backup with appropriate backup software. Ignite is not a backup solution. Ignite is intended for the cloning and recovery of vg00.
Depending on the age of your Ignite backup and the volatility of files like '/etc/passwd' or '/etc/shadow', your procedures will include updating those files from backup tapes after the Ignite recovery has built vg00.
Regards!

Re: make_tape_recovery
> But getting detected the ignite tape first the ignite sw need to be installed in the DR site. right plz clarify me.
The Ignite recovery tape is a bootable, self-contained image of your vg00. There is nothing that needs to be installed at the Disaster Recovery site to use the tape.
