making syslog permission changes persistant after a reboot

Hello-
IRS auditors are requiring that I change the permissions on /var/adm/syslog/syslog.log to 600 om my 11.31 servers. We have syslog configured to roll over on reboot and start a new syslog file. I would like the new file to also have 600 permissions.

It looks like the umask setting for syslog is set in both /sbin/init.d/syslogd and /sbin/init.d/syslog-ng.

Which file do I need to change? Or do I need to change it in both?

Hi Pamela:

Modify both startup files. Be advised that it is possible that a patch (that delivers a new startup script) will replace what you modify.
