missing serial number

On all of my servers, I can issue the following command and retrieve the system serial number:

echo "sel path system\ninfolog\nexit"|cstm|grep "System Serial Number"

However, on one server, a rp7410, all I get is a blank:

System Serial Number.......:

I've tried other commands, such as "print_manifest" and "getconf MACHINE_SERIAL", they return nothing relating to a serial number.

Any thoughts? Thanks!

Those methods work on my rp7410, which leads me to believe that the internally stored serial number has been erase or over-written. I think you would have to put a support call in to HP and have an engineer come on site to correct this.

Hi Vin,

I agree with Peter. those two methods should of produce the information your looking for. You my need to call HP. there should be a lable on the server with model number and serail number.
