more clarification regarding advfs problem
is there any way to find hard disk faulty??? as when i restart the machine problem is resolved temporarily and can i localised the bad cluster in the hard disk as this is the machine of customer???
and if replacement is the only way then how to replace the hard disk?? as presently whole system was speard between two hard disks.

check binary.errlog for hardware errors, but please do not post it. If you are unsure please open a call within the support center. Hopefully your customer uses certified harddisks and not hardware with unknown firmware and certification (not delivering all scsi status codes)
There are advfs check utilities out as described within the admin guide or if simple using the "apropos advfs" term.
Replacing the harddisk is done as described within the admin guide (you are not a friend of documentation right?). It is simple done by backup/restore the disk. In case of a cluster it is more complicated.
So it is also necessary to post the version of Tru64 and if it is a cluster or not....

Can you give us more info about the hardware, what controller is used and what raid?
