Re: named start on boot up

Hi,

thanks for the hint.

However, I have another main that although the named process is running and listening on port UDP 53. I am not able to query the DNS server. When I run nslookup command on the machine itself, it times out.

any idea ??

Appreciate your support.

Re: named start on boot up

Jean,

Just starting named will not do anything since you stilll need to configure the named (/etc/named.conf) to define the zones, etc that your DNS server is responsible for. You also need to define where to look for other zones.

Re: named start on boot up

both nsswitch.conf and nsswitch.dns don't exist ... do you think this could be the problem?

thanks a lot for your support !
