/net folder

Hi All,
Does anyone have any idea what the /net folder is for?
I can see a reference to it in /etc/mnttab but cannot work out what its purpose is?

Regards

Richard

Re: /net folder

/net is an automount map for arbitrary filesystems from a NFS server.

Re: /net folder

Shalom,

/net is where NFS information is stored.

It is not good to play with or delete the items in this folder, with NFS running and active.

Re: /net folder

Magic. I knew it would be something important - was just bugging me as I couldnt work it out for myself (we dont use auto-fs mounts here so had not come across it)

Thanks for the replies
